The latest updates on local electoral information are as follows.

Results

  • Argyll and Bute: The byelection in Oban North and Lorn ward on 17 July was won by John MacGregor. Independent gain from Scottish National Party.
  • Cornwall: The byelection in Mabe, Perranarworthal and St Gluvias division on 17 July was won by Peter Williams. Conservative gain from UK Independence Party.
  • East Dorset: The byelection in Colehill East ward on 17 July was won by Barry Roberts. Liberal Democrat hold.
  • Harrogate: The byelection in Hookstone ward on 17 July was won by Clare Skardon. Liberal Democrat hold.
  • Herefordshire: There were two byelections on 17 July. Ledbury ward was won by Terry Widdows (It’s Our County gain from Conservative) and Leominster South ward was won by Jenny Bartlett (Green Party gain from Conservative). As a result the Conservatives have lost majority control of the council.
  • King’s Lynn and West Norfolk: The byelection in Airfield ward on 17 July was won by Geoff Hipperson. Conservative gain from Green Party.
  • Oxford: The byelection in Cowley ward on 17 July was won by David Henwood. Labour hold.
  • Redditch: The byelection in Church Hill ward on 17 July was won by Nina Wood-Ford. Labour gain from UK Independence Party.

New vacancies

  • Bolsover: South Normanton East ward, after the death of Labour councillor Terry Cook. Term ends 2015.
  • Chelmsford: Bicknacre and East and West Hanningfield ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Michael Harris. Term ends 2015.
  • Newcastle upon Tyne: North Jesmond ward, after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Peter Andras. Term ends 2015.

Dates for byelections

  • Bolsover: The byelection due in South Normanton East ward will take place on 14 August.
  • Broadland: The byelection due in Wroxham ward will take place on 21 August.
  • Newcastle upon Tyne: The byelection due in North Jesmond ward will take place on 28 August.
