The latest information about local electoral matters is as follows:

East of England

London

  • Brent borough council: Impending vacancy in Dudden Hill ward where Liberal Democrat councillor Rev David Clues has said he is intending to resign in November (within six months of a full council election). He has been living and working in Brighton since December 2011.
  • Harrow borough council: Byelection on 7 November in Harrow on the Hill ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Ann Gate, who is moving to Gloucestershire. Term ends May next year.
  • Lambeth borough council: Byelection on 28 November in Vassall ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Kingsley Abrams, who is devoting his time to the Parliamentary selection in Brent Central. Term ends May next year.

  • Bournemouth council: Byelection on 14 November in Winton East ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Anniina Davie. Term ends 2015.
  • Bristol city council: Derek Pickup, who was elected for the Labour Party in Hartcliffe ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor.
  • Teignbridge district council: Avril Kerswell was elected councillor for Bovey ward on 24 October. She wins a seat previously held by an Independent, although like her, he was elected as a Conservative Party candidate.
  • Wiltshire council: Vacancy in Ethandune division after the death of Conservative councillor Linda Conley, who was portfolio holder for waste. Term ends 2017. Meanwhile two councillors elected for the Liberal Democrats have left the party for different reasons. Simon Killane (Malmesbury division) has left following his failure to be selected as Parliamentary candidate for North Wiltshire constituency. Chris Caswill (Chippenham Monkton division) is opposed to a planning consent for a skateboard park in his division.

  • Fife council: Billy Pollock was elected councillor for Dunfermline South ward on 24 October, holding the seat for the Labour Party.
  • Glasgow city council: Byelection on 5 December in Shettleston ward after the death of Labour councillor George Ryan. Term ends 2017.
  • Highland council: Byelection on 28 November in Landward Caithness ward after the resignation of Scottish National Party councillor Alex MacLeod, who has been charged with incurring excessive expenses at his election. There is a vacancy in Black Isle ward after the death of Independent councillor Billy Barclay. Both terms end in 2017.
  • North Lanarkshire council: Vacancy in Motherwell North ward after the death of Labour councillor Annita McAuley. Term ends 2017.
  • South Lanarkshire council: Stuart Gallacher was elected councillor for Hamilton South ward on 24 October. He gains for the Labour Party a seat previously held by the Scottish National Party.
