The latest information about local electoral matters is as follows:

East of England

 

East Midlands

  • Boston borough council: Byelection on 5 September in Fenside ward, after the disqualification of English Democrats councillor Elliott Fountain who has not attended any meetings in six months. There are no meetings before 25 July which he can attend. Term ends 2015.
  • Charnwood borough council: Byelection on 5 September in Loughborough Ashby ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Chris Carter. There will then be another byelection, on 12 September, in Wreake Villages ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor and cabinet member Matthew Blain. A further seat is vacant in Loughborough Hastings ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Litu Choudhury. All terms end in 2015.
  • Daventry district council: Byelection on 5 September in Ravensthorpe ward after the death of Conservative councillor Ken Melling. Term ends 2016.
  • East Lindsey district council: Byelection on 12 September in Frithville ward after the resignation of East Lindsey Independent Group councillor Steve Doughty. Term ends 2015.
  • Lincoln city council: Byelection on 22 August in Bracebridge ward after the disqualification of councillor Darren Grice who failed to attend any meetings for six months. Grice was originally elected as a Conservative but was sitting as an Independent at the time of his disqualification. Term ends 2015.
  • Northamptonshire county council: Byelection on 5 September in Middleton Cheney division after the death of Conservative councillor Ken Melling. Term ends 2017.
  • Wellingborough borough council: Barbara Ainge, who was elected for the Conservative Party in Swanspool ward, has left the party to sit as an Independent councillor. She is opposed to the changes in housing benefit for underoccupation popularly known as the ‘bedroom tax’.

 

London

 

North East

  • Hartlepool council: Byelection on 15 August in Manor House ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Angie Wilcox. Term ends 2015.
  • Redcar and Cleveland council: Former council leader Dave Walsh was elected as councillor for Skelton ward on 8 August, holding the seat for the Labour Party. The Labour administration remains in a minority on the council.

 

North West

  • Carlisle city council: Byelection on 5 September in Yewdale ward after the death of the Leader of the Council, Professor Joe Hendry, who was a Labour councillor. Term ends 2015.
  • St Helens borough council: Vacancy in Billinge and Seneley Green ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Alison Bacon. Term ends 2016.
  • South Lakeland district council: Byelection on 29 August in Windermere Bowness North ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor and former council leader Hilary Stephenson. Term ends 2015.

South West

  • Cornwall council: Byelection on 5 September in Wadebridge East division after the resignation of Independent councillor Colin Brewer, prompted by a report from the Monitoring Officer into his comments about disabled children. Term ends 2017.
  • Forest of Dean district council: There are two vacancies, both caused by the deaths of councillors. Coleford East ward was vacated by the death of Labour councillor Frank Baynham. Redmarley ward was vacated by Conservative councillor Peter Ede. Both terms end in 2015.
  • Mid Devon district council: Byelection on 26 September in Way ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Sarah Fox. Term ends 2015.
  • Swindon council: Oliver Donachie was elected councillor for Haydon Wick ward on 8 August, holding the seat for the Conservatives and ensuring that the Conservative administration retains its overall majority on the council.
  • Torridge district council: Byelection on 15 August in Shebbear and Langtree ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor John Lewis. There is another byelection on 5 September in Torrington ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Geoff Lee who is moving away from the district. Both terms end in 2015.
