The latest information about local electoral matters is as follows:

  • Cornwall council: Vacancy in Wadebridge East division after the resignation of Independent councillor Colin Brewer, prompted by a report from the Monitoring Officer into his comments about disabled children. Term ends 2017.
  • Forest of Dean district council: There are two vacancies, both caused by the deaths of councillors. Coleford East ward was vacated by the death of Labour councillor Frank Baynham. Redmarley ward was vacated by Conservative councillor Peter Ede. Both terms end in 2015.
  • North Somerset council: Byelection on 25 July in Weston-super-Mare North Worle ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Philip Judd. Term ends 2015.
  • Swindon council: Byelection on 8 August in Haydon Wick ward after the death of Conservative councillor and former Mayor Rex Barnett. Term ends 2016. The Conservatives would lose their overall majority if they did not hold the seat.
  • Torridge district council: Byelection on 15 August in Shebbear and Langtree ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor John Lewis. Term ends 2015.

 

West Midlands

 

Yorkshire and the Humber

  • Doncaster borough council: Byelection on 22 August in Askern Spa ward after the disqualification of Labour councillor Ros Jones, now Mayor of Doncaster. Term ends 2014.
  • North Yorkshire county council: Vacancy in Selby South division after the death of Conservative county councillor Margaret Hulme. Term ends 2017.
  • Scarborough borough council: There are two vacancies, both caused by the resignations of councillors. Nick Brown (Conservative) has resigned from Ramshill ward and Mick Cooper (Independent) has resigned from Newby ward. Both terms end in 2015.
