The latest information about local electoral matters is as follows:
- Boston borough council: Byelection on 18 October in Frampton and Holme ward after the resignation of Independent councillor Bernard Rush, who feels that the council is not making any difference. Term ends 2015.
- Daventry district council: Vacancy in Brixworth ward after the death of Conservative councillor Frank Wiig. Term ends 2014.
- East Lindsey district council: Byelection on 11 October in Sutton on Sea North ward, after the resignation due to ill health of Sutton on Sea First councillor Andrew Ferryman. Term ends 2015.
- Leicestershire county council: Rob Fraser, who was elected for the Conservatives in Groby and Ratby division, has left the party to sit as an Independent county councillor.
- Nottingham city council: The new party formed by Jeannie Packer (Clifton South ward) and former councillor Mick Newton after they left the Labour Party will be called the Nottingham Independence Party and Mrs Packer is to be its leader.
East of England
- Central Bedfordshire council: There are two byelections on 15 November. Biggleswade South ward will elect a new councillor after the death of Conservative councillor Peter Vickers. Silsoe and Shillington ward will elect a new councillor after the resignation of Conservative councillor Iain MacKilligan. Both terms end in 2015.
- Fenland district council: Byelection on 25 October in St Marys ward after the death of Conservative councillor Ken Peachey. Term ends 2015.
- Harlow borough council: Byelection on 15 November in Toddbrook ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Robert Davis. Term ends 2015.
- North Hertfordshire district council: There are two vacancies. Hitchwood, Offa and Hoo ward has a vacancy after the death of Conservative councillor David Miller; the term ends in 2014. Letchworth South East ward has a vacancy after the resignation of Conservative councillor Richard Harman; the term there ends in 2015.
- Watford borough council: Byelection on 15 November in Central ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Chris Leslie, who is taking up a new job in the midlands. Term ends 2014.
- Lewisham borough council: Byelection on 11 October in Whitefoot ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Pete Pattisson, who is taking a teaching job in India. Term ends 2014.
- Hartlepool council: Byelection on 25 October in Seaton ward after the resignation of Independent councillor Mike Turner. Term ends 2016.
- Newcastle-upon-Tyne city council: Byelection on 15 November in Ouseburn ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Ian Preston, who has taken a job in London. Term ends 2015.
- North Tyneside borough council: Byelection on 15 November in Wallsend ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Jules Rutherford. Term ends 2015.
- Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council: Byelection on 15 November in Village ward after the death of Teesside Independent Alliance councillor Mick Eddy. Term ends 2015.
- Eden district council: Vacancy in Penrith Pategill ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor David Harding, who has pleaded guilty to affray. Term ends 2015. The byelection is expected to be held on 15 November.
- Liverpool city council: Impending vacancy in Knotty Ash ward due to the resignation of Labour councillor Jacqui Nasuh. Term ends 2014. The byelection is likely to take place on 15 November.
