The latest information about local council electoral matters is as follows:

East Midlands

East of England

London

North East

  • Redcar and Cleveland council: Ron Harrison and Josh Mason, both Liberal Democrats, were elected councillors for Zetland ward on 17 November. They retain the seats for their party, with Harrison successfully re-elected after a dispute over his qualification in the May elections. There is another vacancy in Newcomen ward after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor Glynis Abbott. All terms end in 2015.

North West

South East

  • Adur district council: Vacancy in Eastbrook ward following the disqualification of Liberal Democrat councillor Gavin Ayling, who failed to attend any meetings of the council in six months. The term ends May next year.
  • Ashford borough council: Byelection on 24 November in Beaver ward after the death of Labour councillor Brendan Naughton. Term ends 2015.
  • Brighton and Hove city council: Byelection on 22 December in Westbourne ward, following the resignation of Conservative councillor and former council leader Brian Oxley. Term ends 2015.
  • Hampshire county council: Vacancy in Winchester Southern Parishes division after the death of Conservative councillor and Vice-Chairman of the council Frederick Allgood who was also a former Mayor of Winchester. Term ends 2013.
  • Isle of Wight council: Stuart Hutchinson was elected councillor for West Wight division on 17 November. He wins for the Conservatives a seat previously held by an Independent councillor.
  • Wycombe district council: Byelection on 24 November in Hazlemere South ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Bob Bate. Term ends 2015.
