Derbyshire county council: Brian Ridgway was elected county councillor for Eckington division on 16 June. He holds the seat for the Labour Party. There is a byelection on 7 July in Sawley division after the death of veteran Independent councillor Bill Camm. Term ends 2013.
Rushcliffe borough council: Eddie Fearon was re-elected, and David Smith was elected, as councillors for Manvers ward on 16 June, holding both seats for the Conservatives. This election was postponed from 5 May to 16 June after the death of one sitting Conservative councillor who was a candidate for re-election.
Wandsworth borough council: Byelection on 30 June in Thamesfield ward due to the resignation of council leader Edward Lister, who has been appointed Chief of Staff to Boris Johnson and Deputy Mayor for Planning. Term ends 2014.
Newcastle-upon-Tyne city council: Veronica Dunn was re-elected councillor for Byker ward and Linda Hobson was elected councillor for Westerhope ward on 16 June, both being from the Labour Party. Both elections were postponed polls from 5 May due to the deaths of candidates. While Byker ward was a Labour hold, in Westerhope Labour gained a seat previously held by the Liberal Democrats and also defeated the sitting councillor who was running for re-election as an Independent candidate.
Cheshire East council: Dorothy Flude was re-elected and Steve Hogben was elected as councillors for Crewe South division on 16 June, both being candidates of the Labour Party. The election had been postponed after the death of a sitting Liberal Democrat councillor who was seeking re-election, although no comparison is possible as the division had major boundary changes.
Wokingham council: Byelection on 21 July in Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Claire Stretton, who has moved to Maidenhead and was elected as a councillor for Boyn Hill ward on the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead earlier this month. Term ends 2012.
Sandwell borough council: The Mayor of Sandwell, Joyce Underhill, together with her husband Tony, who were both elected for the Liberal Democrats in Newton ward, have joined the Labour Party. Their move was prompted by the impact of Coalition government policies on benefits to people recovering from cancer, as Tony Underhill is currently suffering from cancer.
Staffordshire county council: Ron Clarke was elected county councillor for Burton Town division on 16 June, holding the seat for the Labour Party. There is another byelection on 7 July in Churnet Valley division after the death of Conservative councillor Barrie Mycock. Both terms end in 2013.
Wychavon district council: Byelection on 23 June in Elmley Castle and Somerville ward after no candidates were nominated in the full council elections.
Carmarthenshire county council: Byelection on 23 June in Llanegwad division after the disqualification of Independent councillor Dilwyn Williams who has not attended any council meeting in six months. The council had previously granted him leave of absence but did not renew it in May. Term ends May next year.
Conwy county borough council: Peter Groudd was elected councillor for Uwchaled division on 16 June. He was an Independent candidate and takes a seat previously held by a Plaid Cymru councillor; the Blaid did not contest the byelection.
Gwynedd county council: Dafydd Meurig was elected councillor for Arllechwedd division on 16 June. He gains for Plaid Cymru a seat previously held by the Liberal Democrats. There is another byelection on 21 July in Glyder division after the death of Plaid Cymru councillor Dai Rees Jones. Term ends in May next year. If Plaid Cymru hold the seat, they will have an overall majority on the council.
Wrexham county borough council: At a byelection in Marchwiel division on 16 June, John Pritchard (Independent) was elected councillor vice June Fearnall (Independent), resigned.
Aberdeen city council: Byelection on 23 June in Airyhall/Broomhill/Garthdee ward after the resignation of Scott Cassie, who was elected as a Liberal Democrat but sitting as an Independent after being charged with fraud. Term ends 2012.
Edinburgh city council: Impending vacancy in City Centre ward after the 30 June resignation of Scottish National Party councillor David Beckett, who is to attend a course at Harvard. Term ends May next year.
