Labour had a slight increase in its majority in two byelections in Stevenage, where the party’s local election campaign was launched by the Prime Minister earlier in the week. Pin Green ward on Stevenage borough council and Bedwell division on Hertfordshire county council both returned Labour councillors.
The Conservatives also held their seat at Redwell West ward, Wellingborough borough council.
