Independents 2. One of the smallest districts, with most of the council area being very sparsely populated. Includes the coastal town of Minehead, and the Hinkley Point power station. Shares management with Taunton Deane council.

Alcombe ward has a byelection on 21 June (held by an Independent). The Liberal Democrats gained Minehead South from a UK Independence Party councillor elected as an Independent on 22 February. The council will merge with Taunton Deane borough in April 2019.
