A cluster of industrial towns around the Medway estuary in north Kent: Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Strood, Rainham. Rochester, with historic associations with Charles Dickens, lost city status when it failed to establish Charter Trustees in 1998.

Rochester West has a byelection on 8 March (held by the Conservatives).
