Other updates
- Newcastle-under-Lyme: After an independent report into problems at the general election made strong criticisms of the Returning Officer and two senior staff were suspended, the Labour leader of the council pre-empted a motion of no confidence by resigning and forcing a vote to elect a new leader. The Borough Independents, who had withdrawn support from Labour over the issue, voted for a Conservative leader along with other groups and so a minority Conservative administration has taken over.
