The latest information about local electoral matters is as follows:
East of England
Broadland district council: Byelection on 20 March in Wroxham ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Ben McGilvray, who is moving out of the district. Term ends 2015.
Luton borough council: Byelection on 13 March in Farley ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Robin Harris, who was finance portfolio holder. Term ends 2015.
Tendring district council: At byelections on 6 February, Sara Richardson was elected in Peter Bruff ward and Mike Skeels was elected in St Johns ward. Both are Conservatives and retained seats previously held by the party.
Nottingham city council: Byelection on 6 March in Clifton North ward after the disqualification of Labour councillor Lee Jeffery who failed to attend any council meetings in six months. Term ends 2015.
West Lindsey district council: Byelection on 27 February in Scotter ward after the death of Conservative councillor William Parry. Term ends 2015.
London
Bexley borough council: Vacancy in Sidcup ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Jackie Evans, due to ill health. No byelection will be held to replace her.
Brent borough council: Vacancy in Dudden Hill ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Rev David Clues, who has been living and working in Brighton since December 2011. As his resignation was within six months of the end of his term, he will not be replaced in a byelection.
Ealing borough council: Vacancy in Hobbayne ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Wendy Langham. With less than six months until the full council elections, there will be no byelection.
Havering borough council: Vacancy in Rainham and Wennington ward after the disqualification of Independent Resident councillor Mark Logan, who did not attend any meetings of the council in six months. As it is less than six months to the full council elections, there will be no byelection.
Lambeth borough council: Vacancy in Streatham South ward after the sudden death of the Mayor of Lambeth, Mark Bennett, who was a Labour councillor. As his term was due to end in May, there will be no byelection for a replacement.
Lewisham borough council: Vacancy in Evelyn ward after the death of Labour councillor Sam Owalabi-Oluyole. As his term had less than six months to run, there will be no byelection.
Corporation of London: There are three vacancies on the non-partisan Common Council. Castle Baynard ward has a vacancy after the resignation of Ray Catt, and the wardmote has been scheduled for 7 February with polling on Monday 10 February. Portsoken ward has a vacancy after the resignation of Shadique Gani, for which a notice of election will be published on 18 February. Cheap ward has a vacancy after the death of Robin Eve. All terms end in 2017.
Waltham Forest borough council: Vacancy in Higham Hill ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Geoff Hammond. As the vacancy occurred within six months of the end of the term, no byelection will be held.
Hartlepool council: Vacancy in Seaton ward after the death of Independent councillor Cath Hill. As her term was due to end in May, there will be no byelection for a replacement.
South Tyneside borough council: Vacancy in West Park ward after the death of Labour councillor Bob Watters. As his term was due to end in May, he will not be replaced in a byelection.
Blackpool council: There are two vacancies. Hawes Side ward has a seat vacant after the death of former Mayor and Labour councillor Norman Hardy. Layton ward has a seat vacant after the resignation of Labour councillor John Boughton. Both terms end in 2015.
Bury borough council: Byelection on 6 March in Ramsbottom ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Joanne Columbine, who was elected on the Returning Officer’s casting vote after the drawing of lots. Term ends 2015.
Cheshire East council: Byelection on 13 March in Crewe West ward after the death of Labour councillor Peter Nurse. Term ends 2015.
Fylde borough council: Vacancy in St John’s ward after the death of the Deputy Mayor, Kath Harper, who was elected as an Independent candidate sponsored by the Ratepayers’ Association. Term ends 2015.
Knowsley borough council: Byelection on 13 March in Longview ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Diane Reid, who has been convicted of driving while under the influence. Term ends 2015.
Pendle borough council: Byelection on 3 April in Blacko and Higherford ward, after the disqualification of Conservative councillor Shelagh Derwent, who failed to attend any meetings of the council in six months. Term ends 2015.
Preston city council: Vacancy in Fishwick ward after the death of Labour councillor Tom Burns. As his term was due to end in May, he will not be replaced in a byelection. There is also an impending vacancy in Town Centre ward as Independent councillor Michael Lavalette has said he is to resign for personal reasons; his term is due to end in 2016.
South East
Ashford borough council: Byelection on 6 March in Wye ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Steve Wright due to work commitments. Term ends 2015.
Canterbury city council: Byelection on 13 March in Barham Downs ward after the death of Conservative councillor Bill Oakey. Term ends 2015.
Dartford borough council: Vacancy in Stone ward after the resignation of Labour councillor John Adams. Term ends 2015.
East Hampshire district council: Byelection on Wednesday 12 March in Petersfield Bell Hill ward after the death of Conservative councillor John West. Term ends 2015.
Hampshire county council: Byelection on Wednesday 12 March in Petersfield Butser division after the death of Conservative county councillor John West. Term ends 2017.
Oxfordshire county council: Vacancy in Chalgrove and Watlington division after the resignation of Conservative county councillor Caroline Newton. Term ends 2017.
Runnymede borough council: Byelection on 13 March in Chertsey Meads ward, after the death of Conservative councillor Peter Boast (who was elected at a byelection in September 2012). Term ends 2015.
Wiltshire council: Byelection on 6 March in Ethandune division after the death of Conservative councillor Linda Conley, who was portfolio holder for waste. Term ends 2017.
West Midlands
Birmingham city council: Byelection in Kingstanding ward on 13 February after the sudden resignation of Labour councillor Cath Grundy. Term ends 2016.
Shropshire council: Byelection on 13 March in Ludlow North division after the resignation of Conservative councillor Rosanna Taylor-Smith, who has moved to Kent. Term ends 2017.
Richmondshire district council: Byelection on 13 February in Reeth and Arkengathdale ward after the death of Independent councillor Bob Gale. Term ends 2015.
Cardiff city council: Byelection on 20 February in Canton division after the resignation of Labour councillor Cerys Furlong. Term ends 2017.
Conwy county borough council: Glyn Lloyd was elected councillor for Betws yn Rhos division on 6 February. He stood as an Independent candidate, and follows another Independent in representing the division.
Flintshire county council: There are two vacancies. Mostyn division is vacant after the disqualification of Independent councillor Patrick Heesom. The adjudication panel initially disqualified Heesom in July; the order was stayed by the High Court when Heesom appealed but the stay has since been lifted. Flint Trelawny division has a vacany after the death of Labour councillor Ted Evans. Both terms end in 2017.
Scotland
East Ayrshire council: Byelection on 27 March in Kilmarnock North ward after the death of Scottish National Party councillor Andrew Hershaw. Term ends 2017. The ruling SNP/Conservative coalition would lose its overall majority if it lost the byelection.
Fife council: Impending vacancy in The Lochs ward due to the resignation of Labour councillor Alex Rowley, now Member of the Scottish Parliament for Cowdenbeath. Term ends 2017. It is intended to hold the byelection on 22 May, in conjunction with the European Parliament elections.
Highland council: Impending vacancy in Caol and Mallaig ward due to the resignation of Independent councillor Eddie Hunter, expected to take effect in mid to late February. Term ends 2017.
