The latest information about local electoral matters is as follows:
East of England
Braintree district council: Byelection on 25 July in Braintree East ward after the death of Labour councillor Eric Lynch, who gained his seat from the Conservatives in a March 2012 byelection. Term ends 2015.
Norfolk county council: Byelection on 1 August in Thetford West division after the resignation of UK Independence Party councillor Peter Georgiou, who was cautioned for shoplifting in 2012. Term ends 2017.
Uttlesford district council: Byelection on 25 July in Felsted ward after the disqualification of Conservative councillor David Crome, who has not attended any meetings of the council in six months. Term ends 2015.
Waveney district council: Byelection on 8 August in Oulton ward after the death of Labour councillor Mike Ives-Keeler. Term ends 2015. His death has given the Conservative administration an overall majority.
Lincoln city council: Impending byelection in Bracebridge ward, where on Monday Independent councillor Darren Grice will have failed to attend any meetings for six months, and there are no suitable meetings for him to attend before that time. Term ends 2015.
Brent borough council: Impending vacancy in Dudden Hill ward where Liberal Democrat councillor Rev David Clues has said he is intending to resign. He has been living and working in Brighton since December 2011.
Elmbridge borough council: Byelection on 25 July in Weybridge South ward after the resignation of the Deputy Leader of the council, Conservative councillor Simon Dodsworth, who is emigrating. Term ends 2014.
Vale of White Horse district council: Jeanette Halliday of the Liberal Democrats was elected councillor for Abingdon Fitzharris ward on 4 July. She gains a seat previously held by the Conservatives.
Forest of Dean district council: There are two vacancies, both caused by the deaths of councillors. Coleford East ward was vacated by the death of Labour councillor Frank Baynham. Redmarley ward was vacated by Conservative councillor Peter Ede. Both terms end in 2015.
Swindon council: Byelection on 8 August in Haydon Wick ward after the death of Conservative councillor and former Mayor Rex Barnett. Term ends 2016. The Conservatives would lose their overall majority if they did not hold the seat.
Torridge district council: Vacancy in Shebbear and Langtree ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor John Lewis. Term ends 2015.
Swansea city council: Bob Clay was elected councillor for Llansamlet division on 4 July, joining his wife on the council. He holds the seat for the Labour Party and is the former Labour MP for Sunderland North.
