South East

  • Adur district council: Byelection on Tuesday 18 October in Cokeham ward after the death of Conservative councillor Norman Wright. Term ends May next year.
  • Gravesham borough council: Byelection on 13 October in Meopham North ward after the resignation of Conservative councillor Laura Hryniewicz. Term ends 2015.
  • Isle of Wight council: Vacancy in West Wight division after the death of Independent councillor Stuart Dyer. Term ends 2013.
  • Mole Valley district council: Byelection on 20 October in Bookham South ward after the death of chairman of the council Anne Howarth, who was a Liberal Democrat councillor. Term ends in May next year.

South West

  • Cornwall council: Byelection on 27 October in Bude North and Stratton division after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Nathan Bale. There is another vacancy in Wendron division after the death of Independent councillor Mike Clayton. Both terms end in 2013.
  • Forest of Dean district council: Vacancy in Cinderford West ward after the death of Labour councillor and former Mayor of Cinderford Frank Beard. Term ends 2015.
  • Somerset county council: Vacancy in Brent division after the death of Conservative councillor Alan Ham. Term ends 2013.

  • Barnsley borough council: Byelection on 13 October in St Helen’s ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Roy Butterwood. Term ends 2014.
  • Bradford city council: Vacancy in Great Horton ward after the resignation of Labour councillor Rev Paul Flowers. Term ends May next year.
  • North Yorkshire county council: Byelection on 27 October in Thornton Dale and The Wolds division due to the resignation of Conservative councillor Ron Haigh, who has moved out of the county to help care for his wife. Term ends 2013.
