The latest information about other local council electoral matters is as follows:
Blaby district council: Byelection on 25 November in Blaby South ward after the resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Dr David Pollard. Term ends May 2011.
East of England
Cambridge city council: George Owers, candidate of the Labour Party, was elected councillor for Coleridge ward on 4 November. This result is a gain from the Conservatives and removes the last Conservative on the council.
East Hertfordshire district council: Byelection in Hunsdon ward on 11 November due to the resignation of Independent councillor Deborah Clark. There is also a vacancy in Sawbridgeworth ward due to the resignation of her husband, Nigel Clark. Both terms end May 2011.
Norfolk county council: Vacancy in Humbleyard division due to the impending resignation of Conservative councillor and council leader Daniel Cox who is moving to India. Term ends 2013.
Tower Hamlets borough council: Vacancy in Spitalfields and Banglatown ward after the disqualification of Lutfur Rahman on election as Mayor of Tower Hamlets. He had been elected for the Labour Party but was expelled when he stood as an Independent against the Labour candidate for Mayor.
Stockton-on-Tees borough council: There are three vacancies. First, Billingham East ward, after the resignation of Labour councillor Alex Cunningham, now MP for Stockton North. Second, Ingleby Barwick East ward, caused by the resignation of Ingleby Barwick Independent Society member Andrew Larkin. Third, Mandale and Victoria ward, after the death of councillor Allison Trainer, who was a member of the Thornaby Independent Association. All three terms end in May 2011.
Liverpool city council: Double byelection on 18 November in Croxteth ward, after the death of Labour councillor and Deputy Lord Mayor Rose Bailey, and resignation of Liberal Democrat councillor Phil Moffatt who is moving to Northern Ireland. Terms end 2011 and 2012.
Manchester city council: Amina Lone was elected councillor for Hulme ward on 4 November, holding the seat for the Labour Party.
Thanet district council: Ewen Cameron, a councillor for Bradstowe ward, has been sentenced to 120 days’ imprisonment for drink-driving. This sentence, if not appealed, will disqualify him from membership, although he is likely to be disqualified next week for non-attendance. As the date of his disqualification is within six months of the full council elections, no byelection is likely to be held. He was originally elected as a Conservative but left the party when charged.
Winchester city council: Vacancy in Oliver’s Battery and Badger Farm ward after the death of Liberal Democrat councillor David Spender. Term ends 2012. The Liberal Democrats will lose their overall majority if they fail to keep the seat.
Ceredigion county council: Vacancy in Ciliau Aeron ward after the disqualification of Plaid Cymru councillor Moelfryn Maskell, who was found by the Adjudication Panel of Wales to have misused his position in relation to planning applications. Term ends 2012.
