The sole byelection held on 11 June resulted in the Liberal Democrats holding on to their seat at Stepping Hill ward on Stockport borough council.
Things are not going so smoothly for the party on the other side of Manchester, in Burnley borough council. There, councillor John Jones (Brunshaw ward) has left the Liberal Democrat group to sit as an Independent, depriving the Liberal Democrats of their overall majority on the council.
